Handy Dandy Links for Storing Eggs I'm rather proud of our free-range chickens. They go home to roost at night and we lock them in to keep them safe from predators, but now that we've got 21 hens and a rooster, it's too many to keep them in the pen all day, so they free-range all day at the farm. They probably roam a good 6-acres or so. Lots of bugs and worms and all-natural yumminess (and whatever potted plant I am trying to grow that is unprotected!).
Needless to say, we've got more eggs than we can eat at the moment, so I've been researching how long eggs will stay fresh and storage options. I'm optimistic about freezing eggs to keep over the winter when our hens will likely produce less. Instead of repeating information already available on the interwebs, here are links to some of the articles I've been reading: |
Hi, I'm Kristi! Christ follower. Farmer's wife. Mom. Gardener. Artist.
I love to create surface design patterns and mandalas (and, and and...). You can find my work at the links below. We live on a little 20 acre farm in the middle of nowhere, and that's what I mostly like to blog about. Home, gardening, Jesus, cats. All my favorite things. Welcome :) MY SHOPS
