Joy Dares

Joy Dares...

If you're wondering what these joy dares are about, you can read about this on Ann Voskamp's blog here.

Now that we're out in the middle of nowhere we've chosen not to buy internet access...which would be quite costly out in said middle of nowhere. We have data on our phones when we need it, and we really don't have time to sit around and watch hours of Netflix anymore anyway (a very good thing!). So we'll see how long we can "manage" without that luxury. I haven't missed it too much yet. We have plenty of music and movies in other forms at the castle when it's time to relax, so it's refreshing if you ask me!

All that to say, I did my own #1000gifts last year, and this year I'm trying to be a bit more organized and am following the prompts for the first time. Being without a home wifi network has already gotten me to leave my phone alone more often, so I won't blog EVERY day, and that's why I'll do several joy dares in one entry. Not that I"m not grateful the other days for sure! :)

A gift at 11:30, 2:30, and 6:30...
Lunch, an afternoon walk, and getting HOME. All three are gifts for sure.

A gift broken, fixed, thrifted...
Broken...can't really think of anything broken other than the cabinet I already blogged about. Perhaps something UNBROKEN...so few broken things during the move. Such a blessing!

As for fixed...our old faithful couch, which was also thrifted many years ago is going to get a makeover soon. So excited to set up our new home!

As for thrifted...most of our furniture IS already thrifted. It's a HUGE blessing to be able to get necessities and wants from local thrift stores. I'd much rather paint and fix something old and make it new than to spend tons of money on new things.

Three surprise gifts--unexpected grace!
Our new neighbors stopped by yesterday with a cake. How sweet! (Literally.) Red velvet and full of gluten and sugar. I'm sure Jon will enjoy it. :)

Hmmmm...unexpected surprise gifts....found an old coffee can half full of bacon grease under our sink yesterday! Ha! Celia had put a bunch of paper towels under there for me the first day we moved in and I hadn't gotten down there to rearrange them yet--now I have a place to pour grease. It's the little things that thrill me most of all. ;)

Also, our realtor sent us a gift card for Olive Garden. Not that I eat out ever. I suppose I can go sit with Jon and watch him eat sometime. :)

Hi, I'm Kristi! Christ follower. Farmer's wife. Mom. Gardener. Artist.

I love to create surface design patterns and mandalas (and, and and...). You can find my work at the links below. We live on a little 20 acre farm in the middle of nowhere, and that's what I mostly like to blog about. Home, gardening, Jesus, cats. All my favorite things.

    Welcome :)
