Squash Farming

6/4/2015

A day in the life...

One of my big gardening concerns at present is my yellow squash...

We had a small garden a few years ago, and it produced really well. This year, as we dove headfirst into farming at the castle, we decided to go with the hay bale method. We have been sadly lackadaisical (and totally crazy busy, honestly) and haven't fertilized our garden nearly enough, so our squash are flowering too soon. They're usually huge by the time they start flowering.

Now I'm googling whether or not to pinch off the flowers and hope the plants grow larger and actually produce...or should I let these little sillies keep flowering and produce tiny little squash for ants. (Talk about things you don't anticipate googling!)

Stay tuned for exciting updates on the squash. :)

Hi, I'm Kristi! Christ follower. Farmer's wife. Mom. Gardener. Artist.

I love to create surface design patterns and mandalas (and, and and...). You can find my work at the links below. We live on a little 20 acre farm in the middle of nowhere, and that's what I mostly like to blog about. Home, gardening, Jesus, cats. All my favorite things.

    Welcome :)
