In case you're in a hurry and looking for a good snack recipe, this is not the recipe you're looking for!
My lovely boss enlightened me to this wonderful little recipe. It's not original to me; you can find many variations online. Such a great way to save money! And it's too easy not to do! I never used powdered detergent before, but this is a very simple switch, and it leaves your clothes smelling like NOTHING, which is way better than having your clothes smell like flowers or mountain ranges or some such nonsense.
Powdered Laundry Detergent
1 cup Fels Naptha or Ivory soap
1/2 cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax
I use Ivory soap and pulverize it in my food processor, and then add the washing soda and borax. (Side note: if you can't find washing soda, baking soda works just fine. I get all my stuffs at Walmart.)
Store in a cute lidded container... hopefully one you inherited from your Gramma. :)
For lightly soiled loads, use 1 TBS. For heavily soiled loads use 2 TBS.
Estimated cost: $1 for 32 tablespoons
As with most things, I make a double-batch so it lasts longer!
