In my quest to detoxify my life, my hand lotion kept glaring at me. I've always used an inexpensive cocoa butter lotion...but the amount of toxins and fillers surely outweighs any actual cocoa butter that might be in there.
As a frugal girl, keeping the price low has always been more important to me than getting exactly what I want, so until I find an affordable, organic, all-natural cocoa butter, I decided to go back to my faithful standby, lanolin.
Lanolin is made from sheep's wool...and though it might not be 100% organic, it should be about as close to organic as is necessary (and far better than a 3-inch-long list of fillers!). (IS LANOLIN ORGANIC?).
I discovered lanolin 8 years ago when I was nursing the cutest little baby girl on the planet. It's really great stuff, and it lasts forever! After I was no longer nursing, I discovered it's also great for chapped lips and even better for dry winter hands.
It's very thick, so you might have to experiment to find just the right amount, but it works great, no overpowering smell, and no burn like some lotions will do to dry skin.
So that's an easy replacement for hand lotions AND lip balm. WIN!
