I've been doing lots of research (i.e., googling) for ideas for my hair and "beauty" products. (I put "beauty" in quotes, because I think it sounds silly. I wear a minimal amount of makeup on days I'll be in public, and that's the extent of my "beauty" regimen.)
I've been using mineral and organic makeup for over a year, so I know what/where to get most things, but I've been trying to find a better organic eyeliner. I think I'll be trying out the activated charcoal idea. And instead of flogging a dead horse (Saving Grace reference), I think this one covers it well: http://www.yumuniverse.com/2012/03/06/make-your-own-natural-eyeshadow-or-liner-out-of-charcoal/
Now for the hair...
I sometimes forget I have so much hair I can't even take a selfie and get it all in there. Huh.
Beauty shops are not my forte. We've never gotten along well, so cutting it isn't exactly a thing.
So for my hair products? Eeeeeshhhhh.... I only use shampoo and conditioner. No hairspray or gel or whatever-else-people-use, so at least I don't have too many things to ditch-and-or-replace.
The no-shampoo method? I'm still too timid to try this yet. I think I'll be switching to a store bought organic shampoo and then possibly trying this out when I feel like going through the process of having oily hair withdrawals. Eek. You see the hair there. The prospects of long greasy hair do not excite me.
On the up side, I have been going without conditioner and using a tiny bit of glycerin and water in a spray bottle, and that works well...except now I read that glycerin isn't any better for me...but I still feel happier knowing I'm using less, and not drenching my scalp with (too many) chemicals.
Small moves, Ellie.
Here's a nice blog about the no-shampoo route that I'll try...eventually.
So there's that.
