I got a new phone last week (squee!) and it has a great camera, so I thought I'd have some fun with my photos. The light in my laundry room (where I was ironing) is very yellow, so I was playing with filters via Flickr and these old timey wimey ones were too fun not to use. So here's an overly-processed photo story of my little weekend sewing projects. Dramatic shot of my scissors and pins. Trimmed out my ornaments. And ironed them. Found a pile of variegated blue hemp cord. Tie little loops with said cord. Like so. And again. Pin fabric to backing fabric with the loop sandwiched inside, knot inside, and pin in place. I used a pre-quilted fabric for the backs of these so they'd have a little puffiness to them without having to stuff them. Pin like so. Stitch! You can, of course, do this by hand or machine. Don't run over your pins (or fingers)! I used a cute little star stitch. And the back. Trim with pinking shears. Don't forget to go carefully around the loops! And the backs. I finished these by spraying them with "Stiffen Stuff" to keep them from fraying. Unrelated pin-work I snapped a photo of. Ironing my police box fabric. As you can see, I just use a towel on my washing machine instead of an ironing board. Do what works! Mini police boxes. More dramatic ironing and pinning. More dramatic pinning. Projects waiting to be stuffed. The end. :) I promise my next post will be in technicolor. (maybe) -KD
